Advancement And Rise Of Printing Services

By Judy Ann Smith

Print medium even today is a very sought after mode of disseminating information to a vast range of people. The printing services industry has witnessed massive growth over the years and is still growing at a steady rate even in the present. Today it caters to a wide range of requirements of clients, which goes much beyond printing.

Bulk printing services through relief printing technology began during the--00's when the world's first printing press was invented by Gutenberg. A slight projection of the printed image from the background, like in a rubber stamp, is a key feature of relief printing. These days relief printing is not as popular and has very limited uses.

Printing techniques have changed radically down the years, and these transformations have been brought about by upcoming of newer technologies. Modern printing methods have developed to a great extent, and each method has its own uses. Most clients are in fact dazed by the plethora of printing options before them.

Of all printing techniques in the market today, offset printing tops the list in popularity. In this technique, the image is transmitted onto paper from a metal plate on which the image is first printed by the use of limited amount of ink. This type of printing is quite inexpensive and quick, and it is often preferred when big volumes of prints are required.

Other printing methods that have evolved with advancements in technology are electrostatic printing, which resembles photocopying, and thermal printing, which uses a procedure of selective heating of layered thermal paper.

However, digital printing is the newest printing method that is drawing a lot of attention. As is clear from its name it uses a computer to create an image, which is then analysed and if found to be accurate, printed onto paper. This method is faultless and fast, but it is appropriate only for a restricted number of prints. The facility of customized printing with this method has led to computer form printing, where a standard format is used to print documents like bills and invoices whose contents vary in tune with the different needs of each print.

Another important evolution in printing has taken place with the arrival of the internet. Most printing companies have their own websites that permit clients to conveniently place orders and check out designs and templates, without them having to go all the way to the firm's premises for this purpose.

Technological advancements have always brought about important positive changes in printing methods and the quality of the output. The good news is that this trend of change is not going to halt any time soon and you will keep witnessing changes bring down the costs and improve the process.
